School bus catches fire in Buxton, no children aboard

BUXTON, Maine — The Buxton Fire Department says crews responded to a school bus fire Thursday.

Firefighters say heavy smoke and flames started coming from the bus’s engine around 9:11 a.m.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames afar before moving in closer through the smoke.

Fire officials say the driver and a mechanic were the only people on the bus at the time.
