A project to bring more than 200 affordable units to Portland is moving forward.
The Planning Board unanimously approved the construction of an eight-story, mixed-used building on Elm Street with 201 housing units in all as well as retail space, according to the Portland Press Herald.
The workforce units will be made available to people earning 60 percent of the area median income.
But it’s only one part of a five-phase project with developers hoping to get permission to build more than 800 new housing units in total spanning seven city blocks.
