A Springvale man will serve about two more years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter and operating under the influence in connection with a motorcycle crash that killed his girlfriend.
As part of a deal with prosecutors, Olaf Nordmann, 53, will serve four years of a 12-year sentence with credit for time already served since his arrest in August 2021, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Following his release, Nordmann will be on probation for six years. He must also pay $2,100 in fines and is barred from having a driver’s license for at least 10 years.
Nordmann was speeding on a motorcycle when he crashed on Emery Mills Road in Shapleigh in May 2021, killing his girlfriend, 27-year-old Marisa Standley of Springvale, who was riding as a passenger at the time.
Nordmann’s blood alcohol level was roughly 0.12 percent after the crash. The legal limit for operating a vehicle in Maine is 0.08 percent, according to the Press Herald.
