The winds lashing Maine on Wednesday morning were strong enough to move a Boeing 737 on an airport runway.
The Southwest Airline Boeing 737MAX8 was parked on the runway at the Portland International Jetport about 4:35 a.m. when high winds pushed it into a jet bridge, according to a spokesperson.
No passengers or crew were aboard the Southwest Airlines plane at the time.
The storm, which moved into Maine overnight, brought winds gusting up to 60 mph in Greater Portland, along with snow and heavy rain. Winds have reached even higher speeds farther up the coast, including hurricane-force winds in Isle au Haut (95 mph) and Matinicus Rock (92 mph) in Knox County while gusts up to 75 mph were expected Down East.
