A Fryeburg man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when his snowmobile rolled over in New Hampshire.
Matthew Dillon, 54, was riding last in a group of three snowmobiles on a trail in Chatham about 3 p.m. when his machine rolled over while he tried to navigate an icy downhill stretch, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
When his friends realized he was no longer following him, they turned around, found him and called for help, New Hampshire Fish and Game said Thursday morning.
Dillon was carried about a mile from the crash site through remote woods to a waiting helicopter that airlifted him to Maine Medical Center in Portland around 4:30 p.m.
He was being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
