A man armed with a machete was arrested Wednesday night after he allegedly assaulted people in Portland.
Ahmed Ismail, 38, was charged with assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violating his conditions of release, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
Police went to Cumberland Avenue about 9:04 p.m. when they got a call that a man was assaulting people and moving around a building with a machete, Nadeau said Thursday.
After he was booked at the Cumberland County Jail, Ismail was charged with unlawful possession of drugs and trafficking in prison contraband.
