A Buxton man has died at the York County Jail.
William Alfred Austin, 40, was found unresponsive in his cell about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to York County Sheriff William King.
Jail staff and other first responders unsuccessfully attempted to revive Austin, King said Thursday morning.
His cause of death is not known at this time.
Austin was arrested Monday and booked into the jail about 6 p.m. that same day.
The Maine State Police are investigating Austin’s death, as is standard procedure whenever someone dies with jail or prison in the state.
