The seventh annual Riley’s Wish Winter Games & Derby will be on Saturday, Feb. 17 and is being hosted this year by Lake St. George Brewing Company. Riley Boulay was a Waldo County boy and Mount View High School student who also attended Waldo County Technical Center until his passing in December, 2017. This event is near and dear to the WCTC community, not only because Riley was a beloved student there, but also because his mother, Jackie Boulay is WCTC’s culinary arts instructor.
Festivities will be held this year at Lake St. George Brewing Company at 4 Marshall Shore Road in Liberty. Registration for the fishing derby begins at 8 a.m. There is a grand prize of $500 and thousands of dollars in raffle prizes. Activities include a live band, face painting, kid’s inside activities, fish chuckin’ for kids, and a cornhole tournament. There will be a variety of hot foods and a coffee and hot cocoa bar.
All proceeds from this event will go to Riley H. Boulay Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is awarded each year to a WCTC graduate from each of the tech center’s sending schools. For more information on this event, call Jackie Boulay at 207-322-5203.
