A mild weekend is ahead in Maine with near record warm temperatures on Saturday. Enjoy the spring-like weather, because next week will see the return of cold temperatures and potentially snow.
Friday will be fairly nice, but with a lot more cloud cover. A rain or snow shower also will be possible through the day. Highs will be around 40.
Saturday brings widespread warmth, especially in far southern Maine. Some record highs are possible if we break into some afternoon sun.
Highs will reach the low 50s for many, however, low clouds and fog may hold our temperatures a bit lower. If fog lingers into the afternoon, expect temperatures to cool.
We’ll see a round of showers Saturday evening into the night. But most of Maine will stay pretty dry this weekend.
Sunday also will be mild and likely drier. Highs will be in the mid- to high 40s, with a mix of sun and clouds.
Monday will begin to bring slightly cooler temperatures. Highs will drop to around 40 degrees for Monday with clouds increasing through the day.
Tuesday storm potential
Models continue to show the potential for snow on Monday night and into Tuesday. While trends over the past 24 hours have shown this storm mostly passing to the south, widespread snowfall very much remains on the table as we’re still several days away.
Models will continue to shift; we’ll likely have a better idea of what this storm will bring on Saturday and especially by Sunday.
Stay tuned to the forecast this weekend.
Sunshine looks to return next Wednesday, but it will be much colder.
Highs will be in the 20s or low 30s, with even colder temperatures for Thursday. There may be more light snow on tap for late next week.
