The man accused of killing his co-worker at Damon’s Beverage in Waterville in December has been returned to Maine.
Spridal Hubiak, 20, of Waterville made his initial court appearance Friday at the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta, according to the Kennebec Journal.
Hubiak allegedly killed 52-year-old Angela Bragg of Waterville at Damon’s Beverage on Dec. 28. Her body was found by a co-worker.
She died as a result of sharp force injury, according to the Maine medical examiner’s office.
Hubiak fled the state, and on New Year’s Eve, police found him sleeping in his car in Flippin, Arkansas. He then allegedly led police on a chase that ended when he crashed in a gas station parking lot. When he emerged from the vehicle armed with an “AR-style” rifle, police shot him, authorities have said.
Hubiak was airlifted to a hospital in Greene County, Missouri, where he was treated for gunshot wounds. He was released from the hospital into police custody early last month.
He was extradited from Arkansas to Maine to face a murder charge.
