A 14-year-old Carmel boy who allegedly shot his father is facing criminal charges in juvenile court.
The 14-year-old is charged with domestic violence elevated aggravated assault, a Class A felony, and aggravated assault, a Class B felony, according to the juvenile court petition.
A pistol was used in the shooting, per court records. No details about the shooting were included in the records.
The teenager shot his father in his torso around 3:55 p.m. Feb. 5, at their home on Main Road in Carmel, police said previously. The father was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition.
A juvenile charged with murder or Class A, B or C crime can have their case bound over to adult court at the request of the district attorney, according to Maine law. No decision has been made in the teenager’s case, Penobscot County District Attorney Chris Almy said.
