Bangor police are investigating the death of a child who succumbed to injuries Sunday night after being admitted to a hospital.
In a news release, police said the child “presented at a local hospital with life threatening injuries.” Bangor Det. Lieutenant Brent Beaulieu said by email that the child was “brought by private vehicle.”
The hospital notified the Bangor Police Department and the state Department of Health and Human Services, who dispatched a detective and a caseworker, respectively, to investigate the incident.
The child, whose name has not been released, died of the injuries during the night, according to police.
Detectives and evidence technicians are continuing to investigate the incident.
Police have not released any additional information.
