One person is dead and another critically injured after a two-vehicle crash late Monday morning outside of an auto dealership in New Sharon.
The crash, reported at about 11:45 a.m., occurred when the driver of a maroon 2007 Ford Focus pulled out of Tuttle’s Auto Sales attempting to turn left onto Route 2, according to Maine State Police. The driver of a 2022 Dodge Ram traveling on Route 2 was unable to stop and hit the Focus.
The driver of the Focus was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Focus was brought by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center with critical injuries, according to police. Neither of their names have been released.
The driver of the Ram, Shawn Dunning, 64, of Jackman, was not injured.
According to police, Route 2 was closed for about two hours but has reopened.
