One of the planes that carries the U.S. president has made numerous passes over the Bangor area Tuesday.
The low-flying plane is labeled with “United States of America,” and has the traditional blue markings and American flag on it. If President Joe Biden is on board, the plane is called Air Force One. However, Biden’s public daily schedule has him in Washington, D.C., all day.
The plane took off from Joint Base Andrews, just outside of Washington, D.C., Tuesday morning, according to ADS-B Exchange, a flight tracking website.
After flying to Bangor, the plane has made around 11 brief landings at the Bangor International Airport, per ADS-B. It’s flying at an altitude around 1,000 feet.
After each landing, the plane circled over the area, flying over downtown Bangor and Brewer, as well as flying south toward Hampden. The type of flight pattern is typically known as touch-and-go landings.
“I cannot discuss aircraft operations,” airport spokesperson Aimee Thibodeau said.
