A juvenile was arrested Wednesday after allegedly threatening a Rockland police officer with a knife.
The juvenile has been charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, according to the Rockland Police Department.
The juvenile, whose identity hasn’t been released, allegedly stole alcohol from a store in Rockland about 10 a.m. and fled before police arrived.
Police found the juvenile a short time later, and took them to their guardian in a neighboring town, where they were given a summons and released, Rockland police said Thursday morning.
During this time, the juvenile allegedly made threats toward the officer and guardian. While the officer and guardian talked outside, the juvenile emerged from the home with a kitchen knife.
The officer deescalated the situation, and the juvenile went back inside the home and then reemerged without the knife and yelled at the officer to “shoot” them, according to Rockland police.
The juvenile was taken into custody, and has since been taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
