BANGOR, Maine — The Orono Red Riots defeated Oceanside 56-48 in front of a packed house at the Cross Insurance Center Friday to win their second straight Class B boys basketball state championship.
Orono senior point guard Pierce Walston led all scorers with 16 points, seven assists and three steals.
Oceanside finished with a 21-1 record after falling to Orono in the title game for the second straight year.
The Red Riots, who finished 19-3, held Oceanside’s 1,000-point scoring senior twins Carter and Cohen Galley to nine and ten points, respectively.
