A train struck a car north of Bangor on Monday afternoon.
The collision happened about 4:15 p.m. on Hammett Road in Enfield, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
After the collision, the car, which appeared to be a yellow Triumph TR7, came to a rest a short distance down the tracks.
The driver suffered only minor injuries, while no one aboard the train was injured, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday morning.
The collision damaged the car’s front end. The train sustained only minor damage. It wasn’t derailed as a result of the collision, and there was no impact to the cargo aboard.
The crash remains under investigation, but witnesses told deputies that the flashing red lights and train signals weren’t activated until after the collision.
