A Deer Isle restaurant is among the best restaurants in the United States.
That’s according to Food and Wine magazine, which named Aragosta No. 2 on its list of the top 20 restaurants across the country.
Food and Wine magazine described Aragosta as one of the “most coveted places to eat in New England.”
Chef Devin Finigan opened Aragosta about 10 years ago in Stonington before moving the seasonal farm-to-table restaurant to Goose Cove in Deer Isle a few years ago.
“Finigan takes the finest hauls from the region’s farmers and fishermen and transforms them into delicate casseroles of green beans and mushrooms, bowls of lobster bisque around which a speck-wrapped lobster tail sits, and a plate of peach-olive oil upside-down cake crowned with oregano flowers,” Food and Wine said in highlighting the coastal restaurant.
Finigan also was nominated in 2020 for a James Beard award.
Aside from accolades for Aragosta, Food and Wine named Portland No. 9 on its list of the top 10 U.S. cities for food and drinks.
“Quickly becoming one of the premiere culinary centers of the Northeast, Portland, Maine, offers can’t-miss dining opportunities like the wallet-friendly omakase at Izakaya Minato, sourdough Neapolitan pizza at Quanto Basta, and housemade rigatoni tossed in meat ragu and dandelion greens at Leeward. At Cocktail Mary, most evenings evolve into an impromptu dance party — one that’s inclusive, affordable, and most importantly, fun,” Food and Wine said of the Forest City.
Aragosta and Portland will be highlighted among other restaurants and cities in Food and Wine’s May issue, which hits newsstands on April 19.
