A road connecting Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth will be completely removed due to flooding and environmental concerns.
It’s called Sawyer Road in Cape Elizabeth and Sawyer Street in Scarborough.
The road crosses the Spurwink Marsh and floods frequently.
One driver had to be rescued in January during severe flooding.
Both towns have agreed to pitch in $185,000 to pay for the removal.
The road is expected to be gone in three years and replaced by two dead end streets.
