A Portland man was arrested Thursday for allegedly trafficking fentanyl.
James Ferrar, 30, has been charged with unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Ferrar allegedly delivered fentanyl to an undercover police officer about 1 p.m. in Portland’s West End and was arrested without incident.
That followed a monthlong investigation into Ferrar’s alleged fentanyl trafficking in the area.
A further search of Ferrar’s Vaughn Street apartment turned up more than 100 grams of fentanyl packaged in assorted weights for resale, digital scales, packaging material and other material related to drug trafficking, according to the MDEA.
The fentanyl was worth an estimated $10,000.
Ferrar was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he was being held on $1,000 bail.
