An employee was assaulted and a customer at a Main Road business was stabbed with a used needle trying to stop a man from leaving the store without paying, according to Holden Police.
The man, identified by Holden Police as Clifford Neville, 41, of Bangor was out on bail and faces charges for robbery, aggravated assault and violating conditions of release.
Police say the worker confronted Neville, who assaulted her with a weapon. Several customers stepped in to help subdue Clifford, who stabbed one of the customers with a used needle, police said.
“We will not be identifying the Store and although we commend the actions of the people involved we never recommend confronting shoplifters or others involved in crime and instead calling 911,” Holden Police said in a Facebook post. “I think it goes without saying that Clifford should not have been on the streets.”
