A man allegedly stole firearms before a neighbor interrupted the Sunday evening burglary.
Christopher Tucker, 33, of Topsham has been charged with burglary, theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, refusing to submit to arrest, possession of methamphetamine and other drugs, and violating conditions of release, among other charges, according to the Brunswick Police Department.
Additional charges are expected.
Tucker was allegedly burglarizing a Gurnet Road home in Brunswick about 5:50 p.m. when a neighbor interrupted him, according to Brunswick police.
Tucker fled in a pickup truck toward Harpswell.
An officer later spotted Tucker’s truck on Cundy’s Point Road, and when he saw police, Tucker fled into the woods, Brunswick police said Wednesday morning.
While fleeing from police, Tucker allegedly smashed a window and tried to enter another home, but was interrupted by police tracking him.
He fled, but was arrested without incident a short time later.
Tucker was taken to Mid Coast Hospital, and then to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
A subsequent search of his truck turned up stolen firearms, ammunition, drugs and other items, according to police.
