Brewer’s fourth annual Riverwalk Festival this Saturday will feature new activities and performances, including a magic show, cornhole tournament and spaghetti dinner.
The festival’s activities will kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday and continue through the evening. Returning activities this year include live music, dance and theater performances, fireworks, tables for local vendors, a craft fair, food trucks and activities for children.
A free shuttle bus will also be available to bring guests from the Joseph L. Ferris Community Center to the downtown and Riverwalk area.
Organized by the city and local businesses, the daylong event celebrates Brewer’s mile-long riverfront trail, which has become a source of pride for the community. The festival drew an estimated 2,500 attendees last year, and the city hopes to exceed that attendance this year, said Renee Doble, Brewer’s deputy economic development director.
“Last year the weather wasn’t cooperating with us,” Doble said. “This year, we’re hoping for better weather and a bigger crowd. We’re excited for our fourth year and we’re hoping for even more people this year.”
New this year, local magician Magic Wes will perform in the Riverwalk’s Children’s Garden at 11:30 a.m., then walk along the waterfront path entertaining walkers, Doble said.
Other new music performances include the Synergy Twins and I Want My MTV Retro Band, which will appear in the Riverwalk’s Children’s Garden at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
A new cornhole tournament will also kick off at noon at 71 Center St. Teams can register online for a $50 fee, then check in at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The first, second and third place teams will be awarded a trophy as well a cash prize.
The American Legion will offer a spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. in the Joseph L Ferris Community Center.
A full schedule of activities and performances is available on the festival’s Facebook page.
