St. Joseph Healthcare on Wednesday dedicated a 22,000-square-foot medical office building to a late Bangor couple who supported the organization.
Building 5 in the St. Joseph Healthcare Park at 900 Broadway in Bangor is named after Sidney and Helen Epstein in appreciation for a generous gift made by their family, according to the health care organization, who declined to release the amount.
The building, with 20 offices, is home to the St. Joseph Internal Medicine Practice. It was opened in 2014 and formally dedicated on Wednesday.
“The Epstein family has been a tremendous supporter of our community, and we are proud to honor them with this building, which plays a key role for tens of thousands of area residents and enhances our ongoing commitment to community care,” Mary Prybylo, president of St. Joseph Healthcare, said in a news release.
Sidney Epstein was a commercial real estate mogul from Bangor, whose endeavors ranged from government buildings and post offices to shopping centers, bank branches and national retailers, according to his obituary. He died in 2013 at the age of 100 and is said to have clocked in to work until he was 99.
Helen Epstein died in 2000.
The dedication ceremony included music by members of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
