POLAND, Maine — A Cumberland County deputy is facing domestic violence charges after allegedly firing a shot into the ground in Poland.
Brian Smith reportedly fired a gun into the ground in Poland on Sunday, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
When officers arrived on the scene, Smith’s behavior raised concern.
Further details about Smith’s arrest were not immediately released, although officials reported that he was transported to St. Mary’s hospital before being released to the Androscoggin County Jail.
Smith has been charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Smith has been with the sheriff’s office since 2015.
