Two teen brothers who died by apparent drowning in a river in Springvale on Sunday have been identified by school officials, according to multiple published reports.
In a letter to parents, Sanford Superintendent of Schools Matt Nelson offered condolences to family and friends of Tavayne Weir, a rising senior at Sanford High School, and Weir’s stepbrother, Diandre Graham.
Sanford police said they received a call at about 11 p.m. Sunday about two missing 17-year-old brothers.
The boys had gone to Holdsworth Park recreation area in Springvale to swim in the Mousam River. When they didn’t return, their parents called the police. Crews responded to the park and found the bodies of the boys in the river.
