Cooper Flagg has signed a significant endorsement deal with New Balance, an athletic-wear company that has established a strong connection with his home state of Maine in recent years.
“The connection with New Balance as a family company and a company with Maine roots means a lot to me,” Flagg said in an ESPN article published Monday morning. “That makes this really different and special. My mom used to go to the tent sale for back-to-school shopping there when we were kids. That really aligns the brand with my roots. It’s a perfect fit.”
It is unclear how much the endorsement deal is worth, and for how long Flagg is signed to the company. Flagg’s agent did not immediately respond to messages on Monday morning.
New Balance has already extended gifts of $5 million and $7 million to the University of Maine, in exchange for naming rights to the New Balance Field House, Track & Field and Soccer Complex and Student Recreation and Fitness Center.
In 2023, the company poured $65 million into a renovation at their Skowhegan-based footwear manufacturing plant, doubling the factory’s capabilities.
