An investigation is underway after the Bangor Police Department discovered human remains on Friday afternoon.
The police department was alerted to what was believed to be “potential human remains” off Texas Avenue in Bangor just before 1 p.m. Friday, according to Det. Lt. Brent Beaulieu of the Bangor Police Department. Further investigation confirmed the remains were human.
Officials do not believe the person’s death was caused by foul play, and there is no criminal investigation at this time.
The remains continue to be examined by Bangor Police Department detectives, and will be transferred to the Maine medical examiner’s office for further examination.
