A Caribou man has died following a motorcycle crash in Fort Fairfield on Sunday afternoon.
Tony Disy, 69, may have suffered a medical event prior to drifting off the Presque Isle Road, Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings said.
Police were notified of the crash at about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday. Rescue crews transported Disy to Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital, where he died of his injuries, Cummings said.
Disy was alone and traveling east on his 2007 Honda motorcycle when he apparently drifted off the road onto the paved shoulder. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.
The motorcycle had minor damage.
After examining the scene and talking to witnesses, police believe a medical event may have caused the crash.
“The Fort Fairfield Police Department wishes to express their condolences to the Disy family as they navigate through this very difficult time,” Cummings said.
Fort Fairfield police are investigating, he said.
