ELLSWORTH — Heart of Ellsworth will host the 7th Annual Art of Ellsworth: Maine Craft Weekend from Friday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 6. The event celebrates the city’s budding art scene and rich creative spirit with live music, open studio activities, creative demonstrations and workshops, as well as products for sale from local artisans. Art of Ellsworth is held each fall in conjunction with Maine Crafts Association’s Maine Craft Weekend, a statewide celebration of craft artists and businesses.
The weekend kicks off with the grand opening of a new makerspace located at 16 State Street on Friday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. The grand opening will include a ribbon cutting, an opportunity to explore the space and light refreshments. It will also feature the space’s first art exhibition, “The Life of the River,” highlighting works by local Ellsworth High School students. This exciting new makerspace will have an exhibition gallery, artist studios, offices, and coworking areas, and event space, providing a vibrant environment for creativity and collaboration in our community.

Ellsworth is once again one of six Maine Craft Weekend Featured Cities for 2024, highlighting the city as a hub of artistic activity, businesses and events. Art of Ellsworth attendees are also encouraged to visit the many locally-owned eateries and shops to experience all that Downtown has to offer.

Started in 2017, Art of Ellsworth: Maine Craft Weekend is an event celebrating the creative community in Ellsworth. Participants include galleries, artists, retail shops, eateries, breweries and non-profits in the urban core who offer studio tours, sales, artist demonstrations and live music. The event was created by Heart of Ellsworth, a Main Street Maine and Main Street America community, a 501c3 championing downtown Ellsworth through programs, events, and community engagement.
