A driver was injured after a truck crashed into a bog off Howes Cove in Liberty over the weekend.
The vehicle, a red Ram 1500 truck, was found abandoned on its side in the bog on Sunday, forcing local rescue workers to search for any occupants, Liberty Fire and Rescue posted on Facebook. The workers eventually determined that the truck’s driver was in a local hospital and that no one else had been in the vehicle.
Before the vehicle was removed from the water, the agency put pads and booms into the cove to contain leaking fluids.
A member of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office didn’t immediately respond to a request for more information.
Liberty Fire and Rescue reminded members of the public to stay at the site of a vehicle crash until authorities arrive, as it’s a crime to leave the scene and rescue workers will be forced to mount a search.
