Nonprofit serving Maine children and adults with disabilities seeks candy for Oct. 25 event.
SCARBOROUGH — The nonprofit Morrison Center, which serves more than 1,100 Maine children and adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, will be hosting its first ever Community Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 25 at its Scarborough campus. The event is open to Morrison Center clients, students, and families, as well as members of the local community.
“This is a great opportunity for our Morrison Center family to celebrate the fun of the season,” said Danielle Loring, executive director of Morrison Center. “At Morrison Center, we are always looking for new ways to raise awareness about the work we do and create opportunities for our families to connect with one another and the broader community.”
For its inaugural event, Morrison Center is seeking donations of unopened bags of candy. They may be dropped off at the Morrison Center’s Scarborough campus at 60 Chamberlain Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074. Those who prefer to make a financial donation may mail a check for a candy purchase to that address.
For more than 70 years, Morrison Center has been serving Maine children and adults with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities, providing Special Purpose Private School education, Day Treatment, Residential Care, Shared Living Options, Case Management, and Community Supports programming. Morrison Center’s vision is to engage children and adults in highly-structured, evidence-based, therapeutic activities that integrate them into the community and help them achieve their maximum personal growth and independence.
