Lisa Marie Presley and mom Priscilla Presley experienced dramatic ups and downs in their relationship over the years.
Priscilla shared the late Lisa Marie with her ex-husband Elvis Presley, whom she was married to from 1967 to 1973. Elvis died in 1977, when Lisa Marie was 9 years old. She spent her teen years butting heads with her mother.
In her October 2024 memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown — which was released posthumously — Lisa Marie wrote that she “always felt” like Priscilla didn’t want her. (Lisa Marie died at age 54 in January 2023.)
“My mother told me that she’d thought about trying to fall off her horse to cause a miscarriage,” Lisa Marie wrote. “She didn’t want to gain pregnancy weight. She thought that wouldn’t be a good look for her as Elvis’ wife.”
Following Priscilla and Elvis’ divorce, Lisa Marie recalled wanting to stay at her father’s iconic Memphis, Tennessee home, Graceland. Instead, she went to Los Angeles for school.
“My dad didn’t talk about my mom in a bad way at all. He did not want me to think negatively of her,” Lisa Marie wrote in her book. “They did a fantastic job maintaining a united front and a real friendship bond.”
Despite the highs and lows Lisa Marie recalled with Priscilla in the memoir, she also recalled the good times they had together. Keep scrolling to relive the mother-daughter duo’s ups and downs over the years:
