Bangor is planning to close the city’s largest homeless camp at year’s end. It’s not clear what would happen if people living in the encampment refuse to leave or how the city would prevent people from returning.
A Maine radio project is connecting people with different views. The catch is that they can’t speak about politics.
Election polls are flawed, but they may be the best tool we have. “Since the voters we survey in the state are highly likely to actually vote, predicting the outcome of an election can be easier here than in other states,” Traverse Burnett, a Portland-based pollster, writes as part of the BDN’s Political Viewpoints series.
Ask the BDN’s political editor anything about the election on Reddit next week. This forum is about Maine elections, including U.S. House and Senate, state and local races, referendums, and ranked-choice voting. It is not about the presidential race or other national issues.

“This bond will not, on its own, put Maine on a course to meet the plan’s goals. But it would be an important investment in core sectors of the state’s economy that will create new jobs and bring innovation and new private sector investment to Maine.”
