A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whomever stole a front-end loader in Clifton earlier this month.
The yellow 2004 Volvo L90E front-end loader was loaded onto a trailer and hauled away from a Woodchuck Hill Road property about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 12, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
It was later found in Eddington hidden on another property, whose owner wasn’t involved with the theft, the sheriff’s office said Sunday morning.
The sheriff’s office said that the front-end loader was driven through a gate and down Route 9 several miles before it was hidden.
“The action was reckless and very dangerous. It put the public at risk and disrupted a business’s ability to operate,” the sheriff’s office said.
The machine’s owner is offering a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of whomever stole it.
Information and tips can be shared through the sheriff’s mobile app or by calling 207-947-4585.
