Our good friend, Laura Baker, is a candidate for the RSU 71 School Board. We value the commitment of all those who are willing to put in the time to make sure that schools are run both successfully and efficiently. We think that Laura has both the experience and the personal attributes that will make her a positive contributor in the effort to help the students, staff and administration live up to the district’s goals.
Of Laura’s 48 years of experience in education at several levels including classroom teacher, special education director, and principal, 21 of those years were spent here in Belfast/Waldo County. She is well prepared, committed to student success for all students, and a team player.
While work experience is important, personal qualities are equally important. Laura and her husband are parents, she is an active community volunteer, and she has boundless energy. She values public education as a foundation of our democracy.
