Paula Doughty’s Skowhegan High School River Hawks will be seeking their 23rd consecutive Class A North field hockey championship and 26th in 27 years when they host Lewiston in a Class A North quarterfinal at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
Skowhegan is 12-2 and the top seed while 5-8-1 Lewiston is the No. 8 seed.
The other Tuesday A North quarterfinal will send No. 5 Mt. Blue of Farmington to No. 4 Mt. Ararat of Topsham in a battle of 10-4 teams beginning at 5 p.m.
The other two quarterfinals will be on Wednesday with No. 2 Brewer, led by Jordin Williams, Allie Flagg and Isabella Pierce, putting its 12-2 record on the line against No. 7 Camden Hills (7-6-1) at Heddericg Field at 5:30 p.m. and No. 3 Messalonskee of Oakland (10-4) entertaining No. 6 Brunswick (4-8-2) at 6 p.m.
Brewer beat Camden Hills 1-0 in overtime during the regular season.
In Class B North, 13-1 Belfast is the top seed and will play one of the two Tuesday quarterfinals against No. 8 Erskine Academy of South China, 6-7-1. The other Tuesday contest will feature No. 5 Nokomis of Newport (8-4-2) visiting No. 4 Gardiner (11-3-0).
The Wednesday B North quarterfinals will send No. 6 Old Town (10-3-1) to Leavitt of Turner (11-2-1) for a 3:30 game and No. 7 Lawrence of Fairfield (9-4-1) to Augusta to take on defending regional winner Cony (11-3-0), the second seed.
Tuesday’s Class C North quarterfinal games involve defending regional champ and top seed Dexter/Central (13-1) entertaining No. 8 Winslow (3-11) and No. 4 Piscataquis Community High School of Guilford (9-5) hosting No. 5 Orono (7-6-1).
On Wednesday, No. 2 Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft (11-2-1) will await No. 7 Stearns-Schenck (5-9) and No. 3 Dirigo of Dixfield (11-3) will take on visiting Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield, 6-8 and the No. 6 seed, beginning at 3:30.
