SCARBOROUGH — With Maine’s designation as the ‘oldest state in the country’ with a median age of 45 years-old, concerns about money and retirement are significant, not only with people in or approaching retirement but for younger people with aging parents. To help move the conversation forward and provide resources and knowledge for all ages, Town & Country FCU is partnering with several financial and community experts to offer a free, eight-part virtual workshop series designed to address some of the most common questions and challenges people will face as they age. Workshops are open to members and non-members at no charge.
The new, virtual series called ‘Aging Well: Your Money and More,” begins with a workshop featuring nationally-recognized financial expert and long-time Town & Country partner, Jean Chatzky, called “Planning and Saving for Retirement.” Chatzky, a frequent guest and financial contributor to national media outlets, said, “No matter where you are on your retirement savings journey, now is an important time to check in on your goals. This session—and the entire workshop series—provides an opportunity for people to learn about the fundamentals of retirement planning, and strategies for getting ahead. I’m excited to kick off this series with Town & Country to help people feel more financially confident and prepared.”
The new series launches with Chatzky’s session on Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. “Jean brings such a breadth of knowledge and understanding to financial wellness through her work and research. She is the ideal person to kick-off our series and to begin what we believe is a very important and timely discussion as we help to not only answer questions but to offer solutions and resources to people. Whether you are preparing to retire from full-time work in the next several years, currently retired and looking to make the most of your money or helping an older family member navigate some of the many financial and lifestyle changes that come at this stage of life, this workshop series is for you. We have a great line-up of speakers and experts planned, and people can attend one or all of the free workshops,” explained Linda Halleran, community engagement manager at Town & Country, who leads the credit union’s financial wellness programming and outreach.
