Love Is Blind exes Marissa George — and her mom — confronted Ramses Prashad about the exes’ emotional split during the season 7 reunion, rehashing what led to their broken engagement.
During the tell-all that aired on Netflix starting Wednesday, October 30, Marissa, 33, finally got answers from Ramses, 35, about why he ended their relationship
“There was one day where I think it just really hit home for me and realized and recognized that if I move forward with Marissa, every day I would be in a place where I would feel exhausted and overwhelmed,” Ramses explained. “I don’t want to change who she is, she deserves a person and a love that wil embrace who she is fully and i just felt that person couldn’t be me.”
Before Marissa could even step in, her mom — who was famously protective throughout season 7 — confessed from the audience that she confronted Ramses herself the night of the breakup.
Love Is Blind’s Marissa Says Ramses Rejected Her Ask to Rekindle Romance
“I did go up there and speak to him and even though I wanted to punch him in the throat, [I wanted] to see what was wrong,” she shared, before noting that she was grateful he ended things. “I’m thankful he called it off. She would have carried the relationship. So he did the right thing.”
Marissa’s mom then pointed out Ramses should have expressed his concerns about the romance sooner. “[You should have said], ‘I’m feeling a little doubt’ instead of reassuring her every single time she asked him,” she told him. “She really felt like she came into this experiment she was going to meet her One. And you broke her. I had to help pick her up. She was devastated. You didn’t see that part. You got to walk away and cry like you were the one who was hurt.”
Marissa then got her chance to speak, noting that she really “didn’t have a say” in the relationship because Ramses never communicated with her. “Everything you just said is ‘I.’ But we’re a partnership. It’s, like, if you’re tiptoeing about my feelings I don’t have a say on how we can better and grown in a relationship.”
Ramses ended the conversation by apologizing for not being more “forthcoming,” telling Marissa it was his “one regret” about his experience on the show.
He also offered an explanation to their documented argument over contraception, where he appeared to get frustrated that Marissa wanted him to wear condoms so she wouldn’t have to go back on birth control.
“I want to clarify that at no point did I ever try to present Marissa with an ultimatum. She had very valid reasons as to why she didn’t want to use hormonal contraception and I’m well aware of the effects it has on a woman’s body, so I’d never try and force that upon her,” he claimed. “We sort of arrived at a solution that worked best for us, and it wasn’t just me being whiny and bratty and, like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to use a condom or whatever that perception is.’”
Marissa and Ramses connected sight unseen when the Love Is Blind pods came to Washington, D.C. in October 2023, one year before the season started airing on Netflix. At the end of the experiment, the twosome got engaged only to split within days of their planned wedding.
Ramses was the one to pull the plug on their relationship, saying he wasn’t ready to get married again. (The nonprofit program associate had been previously married and divorced before going on Love Is Blind.)
“I understand falling in love and getting your heart broken is a risk, I understand that,” Ramses said during the finale, which aired on October 23. “But then last night, I spoke to my niece’s mother and my brother and we had a long conversation just talking about this decision and I learned about things and f—, I just learned that my ex was hurting much more than I realized after the divorce. And I’m just scared that something may happen where I’d end up hurting you.”
He continued, “After being married and just, like, seeing other marriages, I just don’t think love alone is enough. This connection is amazing but there are certain things that you can’t get around, especially when it comes to living together and spending the day to day together that’s crazy important. That’s the thing that can potentially grind us down over time.”
Marissa subsequently broke down in tears, claiming that she was blindsided by Ramses’ decision. The law clerk later alleged to Glamour that Ramses never explained why he no longer wanted to marry her and revealed that they tried to stay in touch.
“We saw each other a few times after. I took the breakup really hard, as you can imagine from the scene of me crying and stuff,” Marissa told Glamour in an interview published earlier this month. “It took me probably six months to get back on track and to really start to move on. I saw him a few times when I was in D.C., and there was one time where we talked one day for like, eight and a half [or] nine hours on the phone.”
Love Is Blind’s Marissa Used Taylor Swift Music to Heal From Ramses Split
She continued, “I’m not really ashamed to say that because I’m someone who’s like, ‘If you feel it, you feel it, like, what’s the worst that can happen?’ And he’s like, ‘Nah.’ So after that, we just stopped communication.”
Love Is Blind season 7 is currently streaming in its entirety on Netflix.
