A Hampden man pleaded guilty Wednesday to possessing hundreds of images of child porn.
Michael King, 66, entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Bangor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
In May 2023, the Maine State Police and U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents searched his home. During the search, King reportedly admitted to possessing child sex abuse material, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Police recovered hundreds of images from King’s laptop, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
King was arrested in September 2016 for possessing sexually explicit material involving children. At the time, King was an ed tech for the Glenburn School Department, but police said his actions didn’t involve students from the school system.
He was convicted in 2017 of possessing sexually explicit material of a child under age 12, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
King faces up to 20 years in prison followed by supervised release between five years and for the remainder of his life, as well as a fine up to $250,000.
