A man allegedly stole a car and then abandoned it after a hit-and-run crash in Glenburn on Wednesday morning.
Andrew Wright, 21, has been charged with theft by unauthorized use, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, and failure to stop and provide information at a motor vehicle crash, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Wright allegedly stole a vehicle from Alton Tannery Road in Hudson. He then crashed the car on Broadway in Glenburn about 8:12 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said Friday.
He abandoned the car at a store at the intersection of Griffin Road and Ohio Street in Bangor, according to the sheriff’s office.
Police later tracked Wright to Hope House in Bangor, where he allegedly had a guitar taken from the stolen vehicle. When questioned by police about a speaker also reported stolen in the car, Wright reportedly admitted to selling it for drugs, according to the sheriff’s office.
He is being held at the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
