BANGOR — Northern Light Acadia Hospital is pleased to share with the community the addition of a new physician to their adult inpatient care team, Christy Blevins, DO.
Dr. Blevins earned her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Carolina and completed a residency program in psychiatry at LewisGale Medical Center in Virginia. She specializes in adult psychiatry with an emphasis on women’s mental health and the mental health of our LGBTQ+ population. When asked to describe her treatment philosophy, Dr. Blevins shared, “My philosophy surrounds a collaborative team approach to ensure individualized, patient-centered care.”
When not working with patients at Acadia, Dr. Blevins enjoys listening to music, playing her trumpet, attending concerts, and watching hockey. She also loves to bake and is always on the look-out for tasty new cookie recipes. Another pastime is traveling. According to Dr. Blevins, “I have traveled through or visited more than 45 states in the US and I am hoping to cross all 50 states off my list soon!”
Northern Light Acadia Hospital, one of only two private psychiatric hospitals in Maine, is licensed for 50 adult inpatient beds and 50 pediatric inpatient beds. The hospital’s Cadillac Building, which houses its adult inpatient treatment spaces, recently underwent a modernization project to enhance patient privacy and safety. The upgrade included the renovation of existing inpatient rooms to single-occupancy rooms, reflecting the standard of care expected in modern behavioral health facilities. Acadia’s commitment to providing high-quality care for both adult and pediatric patients is evident in their ongoing efforts to improve their facilities and the services they offer.
