The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office has identified two people who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in Freedom last month.
Cansheng Zhao, 31, and Bolin Zhao, 31, both of Brooklyn, New York, were found dead at about 6 a.m. on Oct. 22 in a house at 555 Belfast Road (Route 137), WABI reported.
Two other people at the house, who have not been identified, were hospitalized.
Freedom Fire Chief Jim Waterman said at the time that a propane leak from the home heating system is believed to have been the source of the deadly carbon monoxide.
In May, police raided the same house at 555 Belfast Road as part of an investigation into illegal marijuana grow houses throughout the state and found at least 1,900 live marijuana plants.
Law enforcement have raided more than 40 properties across Maine in the last year, seizing hundreds of pounds of marijuana and thousands of plants.
Police have not said if illegal marijuana was found at the residence at the time of the carbon monoxide poisonings on Oct. 22.
