BANGOR — Northern Light Acadia Hospital is pleased to announce that Samantha Foss, DNP, MBA, MSN, RN, NE-BC, FACHE, a resident of Milo, has been named vice president of nursing and patient care services.
Foss comes to Acadia Hospital from Mount Desert Island Hospital where she had served as vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer since 2022. Prior to that, she was Northern Light Health’s director for clinical effectiveness and clinical outcomes and interim system director for patient safety. Other roles within the Northern Light Health system include associate vice president of patient care services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, nurse manager for supplemental staffing at EMMC’s outpatient observation unit and acute rehabilitation, and for two years, Foss was the nurse manager for med-surg and care management at Northern Light Mayo Hospital. Over the course of her career, Foss has worked as an emergency department nurse and ED clinical supervisor, transfer center nurse, house manager, travel nurse, and intensive care unit RN.

Foss earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Husson University where she later went on to earn her MBA with an emphasis in healthcare administration. In addition, she received her master’s degree in nursing as well as a doctor of nursing practice from Purdue University Global, both with an emphasis in Executive Nursing Leadership. She holds several professional licenses and advanced certifications including Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Course, Nurse Executive Board Certified, and is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.
Foss began her new duties with Northern Light Acadia Hospital on Sept. 30.
Northern Light Acadia Hospital is a 100-bed, acute care, short-stay psychiatric hospital, providing a full continuum of mental and behavioral health services for children, teens, and adults. Outpatient services include an addiction care program, intensive day treatment program for children, in-home behavioral health care, military veteran programming, integrated behavioral health in primary care practices, and school-based services, among others.
