Threat in girls bathroom prompted 2 Maine schools to close

Maranacook Community Middle School and Maranacook Community High School in Readfield closed Thursday after a threat found in a bathroom.

Regional School Unit 38 Superintendent Jay Charette said the threat was made in the girls bathroom at the middle school.

All classes were canceled Thursday, including at the high school because the buildings are connected, along with parent-teacher conferences, practices and meetings.

The schools reopened Friday.

So far, Charette is asking anyone in the community who has information about the threat to reach out.
