BANGOR — On Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. the Bangor Band will conclude its 165th Concert Season with a free concert at Peakes Auditorium in Bangor High School.
This concert is the last in a season of family friendly, free programs in and around Bangor. The Band will perform concert band holiday favorites and joyous pieces that children young and old will know and love. The 165th concert season has showcased the versatile talent of New England’s oldest continuously performing community band in a relaxed environment.
Conducted by Dr. Philip Edelman and Associate Conductor Scott Burditt the band will perform a family friendly mix of marches, holiday songs, and popular music that will have your toes tapping!
There is a rumor that Santa Claus may also stop by!

To make this event even more exciting, the concert will be preceded by Bangor’s first ever Tuba Christmas! At 1 p.m. as many tuba players as possible will take the stage of Peakes Auditorium and thrill the audience with all your favorite Christmas music!
Anyone who plays a tuba, euphonium, baritone horn, or other tuba-family instrument is welcome to take part, and anyone at all can come to the free 1 p.m. performance to experience the joy that is a tuba ensemble! Tuba Christmas will be immediately followed by the Bangor Band “Sounds of the Season” concert at 2 p.m., also free.
For those who wish to participate as a musician, arrive at Peakes at 9:30 a.m. for check-in, and play in the 10 a.m. rehearsal, There is a fee of $10 to participate. All participants will receive a Tuba Christmas official button, and have the fun of playing in a large group of tubists!
Tuba Christmas is a world-wide tradition that began 51 years ago in NYC. This is the very first Bangor Tuba Christmas. Be a part of Bangor musical history!
