The University of Maine women’s basketball team broke out of a recent offensive slump, riding a game-high 26 points from sophomore forward Caroline Dotsey to an 87-75 win over Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. on Tuesday night.
Dotsey shot 5-for-8 on three-pointers and graduate student forward Caroline Bornemann added 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Black Bears, who improved to 3-4 on the season, snapping a three-game losing streak. Senior guard Sera Hodgson scored 12 points for UMaine, including three 3-point shots.
Freshman forward Megan Sias poured in a game-high 23 points for Stonehill (2-4) while senior guard Sharn Hayward scored 18 points including four 3-pointers. Brooke Paquette added 14 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the foul line. Kylie Swider scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the losing effort.
The Black Bears outscored Stonehill 27-13 in the second quarter to take a 50-40 lead at halftime and maintained the lead.
