A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a car in Bangor on Tuesday morning.
Police were notified at about 6 a.m. of the collision at Union Street near High Street, Bangor Police Sgt. Jason McAmbley said.
The driver told police that the person stepped off the sidewalk into the path of the vehicle and they didn’t have to time to avoid a collision.
Union Street was closed from Sanford to High streets during the investigation and was reopened at a little after 9 a.m.
The pedestrian was brought to a local hospital and is in serious condition, McAmbley said.
Police have not identified the driver or the pedestrian, and McAmbley said there are no charges at this time.
