BELFAST — Belfast’s Theatre Nouveau is thrilled to announce a staged reading with music of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” – a holiday favorite for the entire family! The show will open on Dec. 20 and run for four performances at the Basil Burwell Theatre in Belfast.
The Christmas classic, adapted by Stacey Stewart and Suzanne Ramczyk, presents Dickens’ common themes of poverty and greed with hope for redemption and, ultimately, the transformation of his most iconic character, Ebenezer Scrooge.
“This is a perfect show for the whole family,” said Artistic Director Suzanne Ramczyk adding that “This rambunctious holiday classic still offers an antidote to the stress of modern life. No matter how many times we see it, we always leave feeling an abundance of good will towards others.”
The staged reading will be enlivened with music, singing, movement and live sound effects. The cast features some Theatre Nouveau regulars, including Cory Burns, Peter Conant, Lisa Goodridge, Beverly Mann and Kathleen Reilly. Amy Dowley joins the cast and David Rynerson will make his third appearance with the company as the musician and “sound effects guy.”
