A Maine man was hospitalized after falling through pond ice on Saturday afternoon.
The man fell through the ice around 200 years off the shore of Notched Pond in Raymond at around 3:45 p.m., WABI News reported.
He was able to pull himself out of the water, while a bystander called 911. When first responders arrived at the scene, the man was transported to a local hospital to receive treatment for hypothermia. The man was not fatally injured.
Sgt. Kyle Hladik of the Maine Warden Service noted that anyone out on the ice right now should stay aware of changing ice conditions.
“With it being this early in the season, where we just got some rain, and it was warmer, there are thin spots on every body of water. It’s very unpredictable,” Hladik told WABI News.
